Which milk pellets do you use, why did you choose it? Volume fed?
We used Buckeye pellets, because the neo natal vet at UC Davis recommended them, and continued with them because the foal loved them.
Buckeye or Progressive
My horse did the milk replacer from Buckeye and Progressive for his first 3 months (reommended) and did a shorter stint with the milk pellets as he transitioned to regular feed. He’s grown now and getting ready to go Intermediare 1. He turned out fine.
I feed the Buckeye Foal Starter milk pellets free choice in a creep feeder once the foal starts eating them reliably. I dose with Rejuvenaide paste up until that point just to make sure they are getting the proper minerals for growth.
I’ve started my little guy on Buckeye Foal Starter…he is now 7 weeks old. So no rejuveaide since he’s in the Buckeye pellets? He’s nibbling and I think is eating aprox 1, 1/2 cup/day.
I forget exactly how much it says they have to eat to equal the Rejuvenaide or Foal Aide, check the bag but I think you may be close. My filly was eating enough that she was taken off the paste by 3 weeks but she is a moose
