Minding your own business or ????

I don’t want to make people paranoid, but I think that we are talking about multiple ***hats here. And that’s really the sad thing. I WANT to be able to buy a horse sight unseen that I fall in love with off of a video, I WANT people to to feel like they could buy ours the same way. I want to be able to let somebody pay a horse out that they fall in love with and be happy to do it. These few bad apples are spoiling everything for the rest of us. The big question is how red do we let the red flags get before we have to get involved in a lot of drama?[/QUOTE]

This. But unfortunately I don’t have any answers either.

i think a Yelp for the horse world is in order. RMHP could work but i am not paying $5 and i guess no one else wants to either.

i really dont understand why the horse world is so weird.

In any case - i think we need a system of rating (like Yelp) or heck - maybe we can use Yelp itself? maybe we can ask them to create more horse categories…

here is a Yelp search for “Horse Training” near my town. Since Yelp is already in existence why dont we all start using it?

http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=equine&find_loc=Petaluma%2C+CA&ns=1#find_desc=horse+training&show_filters=0

the cool things about Yelp is that you can add businesss so you can rate them… so we have the tools - lets start using it!

Food for thought but every situation is different. There are some wonderful breeders out there that have had a string of unfortunate events, and are only one day/event/horse away from a comeback. Just like many businesses, with or without horses - we just hope the horses don’t suffer in the meantime.

I think Yelp would work. A friend of mine rated a DVM she had a poor experience with, and also for a DVM she wanted to recommend! These things are probably skewed towards the negative review, but it’s a start.

we should all start using it for all our horse connections good and bad and tell folks to use it too. If enough folks start using it we could probably ask for more refined categories.
