Mini's only access

For those of you who have minis/donkeys/horses/maybe even goats together, do you have an area that your little critters can get to and the big ones can’t? I am not having an issue at this point with three horses and two mini donkeys but I foresee issues I’d like to avoid. I have a run-in that they can all fit into but they like to push each other out and someone always gets left in the rain if I’m not there to bring them all in. I don’t want it to be the mini donkey’s left out in the rain and would like to create a “mini’s only” access for them to get into the rest of the barn without letting the horses in.

If you have such a set up or have ideas I’d love to see them/hear about them.

The way my barn is set up (if you can follow this description): a huge very old bank barn, on the ground floor the back part is old stanchions (no horse/donkey access), the front part is partially renovated with 4 12x12 stalls along the front wall, a run-in and the rest is a large open area for now. Two sets of sliding doors access the outside, one faces the house and one set connects to the dry paddock and is the entrance for the “run - in”…basically a center aisle set up inside a bank barn, stalls on one side only. There are gates sectioning off the run-in until I figure out my final configuration as we continue with renovations. This gate area is where I’d like to create this “minis only” access. When open, I’d like them to be able to come into the large open area of the barn as they please.
I hope this makes a little sense.

I put a rubber covered stall guard across the door of one of my stalls…low enough that only the mini donks could get under. Our teeny mini, donk, Jack had a tiny straight stall made our of a piece of plywood braced to the wall that only he could fit in and eat in peace…too narrow for other min’s to help him with his food!!

sort of, we have one grazing area sectioned off for the two smaller miniatures, used a single run of 3 inch wide electric fence set at just below their head height. They can dip their head and get in/out without touching the electric fence

When I was house hunting, I saw a property that had a mini only stall. There was a 2x4 about (human) hip high to limit big horse access.

I think @TheJenners had also done something similar for her wee little donkeys?

”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹”‹Seems pretty straight forward to set up

Correct I did, and still do now at my new place. Let me scare up pics…

Currently, not the best pic because it was mid-construction of some Lighthoof installation, but you can see the chain across their stall. This side only has a retired horse who has no desire to mess with their stuff, whereas at my old boarding facility, they were out with both my horses and my main horse is an asshole, so they needed the stouter structure. A chain would never NEVER work with the asshole.
