MIPS Helmet Technology - Is It Worth It?

Noticed an ad for the new Trauma Void helmet, that uses the MIPS (multi-directional impact protection) which is supposed to lessen the risk of rotational injuries to your brain. It’s been around in bike helmets for awhile. I’m curious if anybody has any experience with it? I was looking for reviews but the only info I could find was provided by the mfg, hardly an unbiased review. This helmet runs around $250, a lot more than I usually pay (I don’t show so I ride in a plain old Troxel). I wouldn’t mind spending the extra money IF the helmet offered significantly more protection…?

There’s been a pretty extensive recent discussion of the MIPS helmets sold by Back on Track in the Eventing forum:

Thanks so much, that’s just what I was looking for. I’d put “MIPS” into the forum search but for whatever reason, that thread didn’t come up. So thank you

It gets a little mention in a thread I started on One K helmet strap fit. Unfortunately it says the MIPS has the same style of chin strap. Worth looking at if you are considering buying one just so you’ll know.
