Missing Dog Website and $250.00 REWARD

The Virginia Hunting Dog Alliance is announcing a new service to hunters who hunt with dogs in Virginia. We have created pages on our website www.vahda.org to report/list your missing, lost and stolen hunting dogs. We are offering the service free to all hunters who have lost hunting dogs in Virginia only. The site offers a number of unique features that we have not found on other sites.

 All dogs will be reported as missing by email to every licensed county pound and animal shelter in Virginia that takes in stray dog in the state.
 You can include to digital pictures of each dog on the site
 You will be able to print missing posters that include the pictures and a map of the location where the dogs was last seen.
 A state map of the missing dogs reported to us statewide is available on site to alert you to missing or stolen dogs that disappeared in your area.

The Virginia Hunting Dog Alliance has heard many assertions that hunters abandon their dogs or do not care for them. Increasingly we are finding that they have actually been picked (stolen) by animal rights activists or people that think your marathon running hound is being mistreated because it is thin. Many times the dogs picked up in one county are carried many miles away and turned into shelters to prevent you from retrieving your dog. The number of tracking collars reported stolen is a good indication that it is not other hunters stealing the dogs and selling the collars!

We are also announcing a $250 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone abandoning a hunting dog in Virginia.

Questions concerning our new site or the abandoned dog reward maybe directed to missingdog@vahda.org or info@vahda.org .

Hurrah! This is a very good service indeed.

I’m glad there are so many hunters willing to go to such lengths to recover their dogs. As someone who rescued a hound that was dumped, I hope that the reward will encourage people to report irresponsible dog owners.
The shelters here in my part of VA are full of hounds of all shapes and sizes. :frowning:

missing bluetick at VA shelter

I was notified since I’ve adopted a va bluetick that there was another at the shelter. She is thin but they do believe she is socializied. Not sure when the execution will occur… but if anyone knows of someone looking for a hound either one lost or stolen or a new pet please check out this gal.

I live in MA and adopted a bluetick from them last year. They transported (via volunteer) to NJ and I got him there. It was well worth the trip. I wish I could take her…
