“Clayton Price said Spud, a 10-year-old roan Quarter Horse (with Appaloosa hindquarter markings) was located in a corral at the River Trails Riding Stables near Norco, Calif., on Dec. 21 when heavy rains caused the Santa Ana River to overflow onto the property.”
“The water broke down the pen he was in and he was swept into the river,” said Price, who operates the riding stable.
Two other corrals containing three other horses withstood the flooding, Price said.
Price and others conducted aerial and ground searches of the area, but so far have been unable to locate the horse.
“The problem is that the area where he could … be has lots of brush and it’s very hard to see, even from the air,” he said.
Still Price believes the animal will be found.
“He’s very strong,” Price said.
