Mock hunt - what to wear?

Hi all,
I’ll be taking the baby QH to a local mock hunt this weekend and I was hoping you all wise people may be able to enlighten me on the appropriate dress code: are we talking clinic attire (beige breeches, polo, belt, helmet, clean tall boots, gloves) or show attire (navy coat, shirt, etc)?
Thanks!

The standard answer to all hunt attire questions is it varies by hunt and you should call the hunt secretary.

Ditto. I have yet to go on one, but have been drooling after photos from friends on Facebook, and hope maybe this season I can join them for some of the lighter duty stuff. (Both my horse and I are not up for it right this moment, hoping maybe by end of season we will be.)

Anyhoo, from the photos I’ve seen on FB, the straight hunting set does follow the pretty strict code. But they have different groups that go out, I forget what all they are called, some do the running but no jumping, and others do something with the hounds, or there are days that are hounds only … I dunno.

So for myself and the day I’m able to go, I’ve gone the low-budget route. I got a black blazer from eBay that’s not necessarily an equestrian blazer, and I’ve gotten a velvet covering for my gray IRH helmet, and I’m keeping a pair of black half chaps sealed up so I can be sure they look sharp when I go out.

But for your particular group, check in directly with them, because they may vary!

Contact the hunt secretary. It will depend on the hunt and the weather. For example, at the hunt I ride with if it is over 70 degrees we can wear a polo shirt for any hunt related activities.

ladymcts - you will most certainly be welcome anytime you and your boy feel ready to try! With the husband starting to hunt this year there will always be someone willing to go the slow and steady and possibly go back early route, haha
