Modern Pentathlon

Glad to see they gave the US riders different coats this time. Wearing the red USEF copies were NOT appropriate IMO.

Poor horses… their mouths must hurt so much!! All that pulling on the reins… the French rider never leaned forward at all…

OMG the Lithuanian rider couldnt stop after a decent round so she just jumped out of the arena over the gate!!

I was more impressed with Stennius that Margeaux. Margeaux let that horse get way out of control and looked like she was going for pure speed. She’s lucky she left that round without a major incident.

Did the owners of these horses know what they were going to be subjecting their horses to? I can say right now, you couldn’t pay me to allow one of these ‘athletes’ to use my horse. How much damage is there to undo now in the rideability of the horses?

Same here. That Margeaux girl wasn’t too terrible but she got VERY lucky.

It’s interesting that 2 of the horses who have DNF are in the top 3 with better riders.

Why do people think it’s OK to bring their babies to these events? Every event in this arena has been marred by wailing.[/QUOTE]

Perhaps the timing of the event and their babies’ due dates took them by surprise.

I did hear the announcer remind the crowd to “manage their relations.” Always polite to a fault!

I was watching the iPad app version and the live feed froze for that gal on the paint. Did she come off?

I am still recovering from the French girl on that saintly chestnut horse…I was watching with only half an eye open and cringing the whole way.

The Brazilian who was 2nd overall coming into the riding drew that nice paint, and while she started out well after the 3rd or 4th fence she just died. He kept going and jumped every fence for her but she couldn’t keep it together and just hung on.

There were definitely fewer babysitters in today’s crop of horses, maybe counting on better riding from the women overall than the men.

The scared French swimmer looked every bit that and the slo mo replay of her getting left behind was painful.

The Lithuanian did end up jumping out of the ring because she couldn’t stop that nice big chestnut who just wanted the hell out of there.

Glad to see the Brazilian rider hug that saintly pinto who saved her butt on numerrous occasions…

^^^ that was nice.

yes, the French rider was shameful. She leaned backwards at every fence and hit the horse’s mouth all the time… terrible!
I am still recovering from Elodie’s ride. Did not see Amelie’s… was she as bad?

I’m kind of afraid to ask, but where can I watch the replay? I think it’s over but the replay isn’t available on NBC olympics yet.

Not sure if anyone already said this (not reading all 11 pages of the thread) but Suzanne Stettinius foxhunted and raced over jumps as a steeplechase rider when she was younger. I did not see her ride, but I certainly think it would be one of the more successful ones from what you all have described!

I’m just on the swimming now.

OMG I found the replay :X

Okay on the riding now. Holding my breath.

Cool they are showing the draw. Wow they don’t get to ride in their own saddles? Ugh I wouldn’t like that.

I want # 25. beautiful in the jog. Can’t wait to see the jump.

And #20. will be ridden by a Canadian rider.
