Modern Saddles with a flat seat and a narrow twist

I’m looking for a modern saddle that really gives you that close contact feel - a flat seat and a narrow twist.

Something that feels similar to the early 2000’s Tad Coffin saddles.

Any suggestions?

Another Tad Coffin. Love mine.

Butet Premium with a P (flat) seat.

LOVED mine… I literally cried when I sold it, but there was no way in hell it would ever fit my Andy gelding :frowning:

Butet. If your horse is on the narrower side, you can get the same feel for a lot less spend in a Beval Natural.

Beval natural. If you like flat, narrow, and close contact you’d like this saddle. Or a butet if you want to spend more $$$.

Loved my Beval Natural. It was amazing. I liked it better than both of my Voltaire’s. I stopped riding and sold it like a dummy. Very flat seat.

Love my Tad Coffin. Narrow twist and flatter seat. Mine is a “SmartRide”. Horse hated all things French in saddles and feels great in the TC.

Another vote for a Beval Natural. I found it more comfortable than several TCs I’ve tried.

A second for this. The leather is fabulous, it broke in quickly, it is beautifully made, and the narrow twist is soooooo much better than my old Voltaire.

I know people have strong feelings about the French brands, but the workmanship on the Butets is really quite impressive. My non-horsey engineer husband was super impressed.

Tad Coffin A5 with his SmartRide tree.

Try the new Renaissance saddles!

Another vote for Butet. I bought mine used, it’s the P seat, grain flaps and I love it. I’d been riding in a lot of CWDs previously and I love how the Butet feels like a lot less saddle.

I’d also say if you’re looking 2nd hand, outside of Butet and Renaissance and TC… A CWD SE03 2018 or older.

If price is not a concern, Butet or Hermes. The Bruno Delgrange Rivoli or Athena models might also be to your liking. At a lower price point I agree with the other suggestions to look for a used Beval Natural.
