Modern Show Jumping Stallions

Looking for modern stallion recommendations for a 16.3h Darco x Furioso II x Voltaire maiden mare from a strong dam line who jumped to 1.45m. She has good bone structure slightly downhill solidly built but not too heavy and well muscled. Very good easy reliable character, box to show ring, big flat kneed mover.

Looking for a good middle ground stallion for a first foal who will bring scope, and not lose blood possibly add a little blood, not too heavy or old fashioned.

Presently looking at Toulon, Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve, Diarado, but open to recommendations.
Thank you in advance for input.

Would not necessarily go Diarado. I’ve tried quite a few of them in Europe and they tend to be small, with excellent brains but not super scopey. Love them as hunters but wouldn’t expect scope or size.

Our Toulons were also not large and were…odd movers, but did include an Olympic horse.

When I say small I mean we had a four year old who was maybe MAYBE 15.1, out of an average size mare. Tremendous jump and really a potential demon as a speed horse, but very small.

Thank you for the replies, really helpful hearing about foals people have seen to get a better baseline. Any recommendations on other modern stallions that work well generally, or favorites to look at?

Darco x Voltaire = “the magic mix”

we have 2 Darco x Voltaires - one modern and one traditional. You can PM me for photos of offspring. If you are in the US and can get Toulon straws to work, you’ll have a very valuable foal. If you like Diarado, look at Dominator Z too, he’s big and rangey. With our traditional mare, we got a cracking Baloubet du Rouet filly who is ultra modern. Cicero Z (Cicero van Pamael) is a nice option.

A number of my friends also have Darco-voltaires (mares and stallions) if you want names so you can look up offspring for ideas, please let me know. Also Shannondale Sarco is Darco-voltaire so you can google his offspring to see what crossed well with him.

I had read that Nimmedor x voltaire is also a successful nick. Lots of good jumping stallions with Nimmedor in the mix out there.

Are you in the UK or North America?

I am located in North America.

Take a look at Royal Beach Farao, a 16.3hh Mecklenburg stallion that won in the GP’s in Europe under Karel Cox and Jaime Guerra and then came to North America and won at the GP and World Cup levels with Richard Spooner and Chris Pratt for many years before changing gears in his latter years and enjoying a lot of success in the Hunter Derbies and Adult Eq classes.

He comes from the Eastern European breeding programs which used a lot of Anglo Arabians through the bloodlines which gives him a lot of refinement and elegance. He looks more like a TB stallion than he does a WB so should absolutely refine your mare

I am not a breeder so have no advice - but there is a young Diarado son in Canada:

Baltic VDL is worth a look. Light, modern, uphill, Alme lines on top, Nimmerdor on the bottom, also Jus de Pomme. He has super technique and is reputed to throw foals with willing attitudes.
