Over 20 years ago, I was semi-gifted a pair of lovely custom pull on field boots. unfortunately the measurements were poorly done, and they were much too tight. I had them professionally stretched to make them work for a few rides, but then a leg injury made wearing them impossible. For the last 24 or so years, these lovely boots have sat in their box. Now I am looking at making them wearable again, even if just for schooling. Any thoughts on the best way to do this? I was wondering if there was some clever way to have laces up the entire boot or? I probably need about an inch added, but not sure how to really measure that with precision.
You may be able to have panels added. Here’s an old thread about cobblers that work on riding boots. I used Pisano and sons to replace the zippers in my boots as they were half the price of the places local to me.
The Pisano website link is not working.
I don’t want to send out of Canada: more looking for options to give a local cobbler, OR someone in Canada to send them.
I know a great cobbler who will add zippers and stretch panels, however, he is in Florida. He might be worth it though as he charged me around 40$ for the alteration, when I have been quoted 200$+ by other places!
I know where you live. I’ve heard good things about a guy in Sherwood Park in the plaza on the opposite side of Wye Road from the Wal-Mart. It’s a shoe repair place, don’t know the name. Someone was telling me last year about how he did an amazing job on some tall boots for her.
I can’t help with Who or Where, but I’d definitely add full length back zips.
They are hidden by the seam & have the added advantage of never having to redo laces.
Put boots on, tighten laces as needed, remove boots & voila!
I took them there about 10 years ago, and for some reason he didn’t seem keen to do the alteration…but perhaps I should try again. He seems to be “the guy”.
