Moles and groundhogs: I want them gone!

We have both that are starting to burrow in my jump field and pastures. How do I get rid of them? My dogs caught one of each, but there are definitely more and I want to get rid of them before they do too much damage. Since I have dogs and cats, I can’t use poisons. Any advice?

Get a bunch of traps.

One word: Rodenator! https://www.youtube.com/user/Rodenator

Interesting piece of equipment, that rodenator. It looks like the company that makes them is experiencing some problems with embezzlement though and hasn’t been able to straighten it out yet. It’s pretty expensive, but if it works, it’s worth the vet bills and time costs that injuries from stepping in gopher holes could bring, especially in a jumping situation (that’s actually painful to imagine.).

I’m one of those sensitive types who has a hard time killing animals, but I have to say, I just pulled out the first dead mole out of a trap and I was excited! I ordered a groundhog trap too and despite the fact that they are cute, fat, rolly polly things, I can’t wait to see them dead. Better they’re dead than have a horse with a broken leg!
