I’ve had my eye on the Montar Monarch, and can get it, or parts of it, on sale this weekend.
Mare is a small oversize or large full, but I can’t find sizing info for this brand. Thinking of getting a full crown piece and OS noseband, but not sure. A full PS Sweden just fits her around the nose.
Also any comments on quality would be great!
I have a Montar bridle. I really like its quality… and it fits well after we figured out he needs an oversize browband, cob cheeks, and full noseband and crown!! (That is NOT a reflection on the bridle. Iberian horse - wide and short face!!) The folks at The Dressage Connection were very accommodating!!
I have the Monarch with the European crown piece and both my boys love it. Now that being said, I do not like the snap on browband system. I feel like it is too flimsy and not well fitting on my cob. He has a thick sturdy head so he normally will take up whatever extra in width that there is available in the bridle. I went through ReRide Consignment and customized my bridle with the girls there and it was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had buying tack. They have Facebook live sales, which are too addictive, and they offer very good customer service. I also had my eyes on on the PS of Sweden but I really like my Montar a lot better in person than I did the PS.

Well, I received my Montar noseband the other day and I’m quite pleased with it. The Xtra Full size is large enough for my mare’s rectangle-head, and the workmanship of the bridle seems to be very nice. Once the jowl strap breaks in, it should fit just right. The tone on tone stitching is a nice tough, and matches perfectly to the PS Sweden High Jump bridle I put it on. I’ll likely purchase the rest of the Montar bridle at some point, since the PS is a bit old and I would prefer the integrated throatlatch for showing. I didn’t have any problems ordering from Horse by Horse, and will use them again, especially if they do another 20% off promo.
