I have just purchased a crates monty forman balanced ride saddle model 9420 in excellent condition. Can anybody tell me much about this saddle? The only info I can find was on the crates archive website not much therre. Would love to learn original price and value today. Not that I am looking to sell it fits my hard to fit Thoroughbred perfect.
Oh wow, I’d love to find something like that!
Have no info tho, sorry.
I don’t ride much currently, but I have a Fallis balanced ride saddle from way back when. Love it! These saddles place you in the center of the seat in a position very similar to a correct English/dressage seat. Not nearly as much bulk under your leg, so it’s way easier to feel what your horse is doing, use your legs etc. That takes a bit of getting used to if you’ve only ridden western saddles with “traditional” rigging, but it’s great after that.
For more info about your saddle, you could contact John Fallis at fallisbalancedride.com. He’s the son of Slim Fallis, who worked with Monty Foreman to designed/make balanced ride saddles. He (John) still makes the saddles.
Nice find!
Monte Foreman wrote several books, if you Google you can find them for sale. I think there are also videos.
Kyle Tack www.kyletack.com in Texas is still making Monte Foreman Balanced Ride Saddles. They may also have books and videos.
Patrick Wyse www.horsewyse.com is following Monte Foreman’s teachings.
Read his homepage under “Training For You And Your Horse”. You could contact him for info on your saddle. He has Monte Foreman’s book for sale.
