I just love them and they look happier already!

And for my third update of the day (I swear I won’t keep that up ):

I’ve been TOUCHED. Not me reaching out to them and getting acknowledged, but full on critters coming up to ME and touching me while I just stand there. :sob: I guess I’ve passed the sniff test.

Shortly after that, wee little Ernie nickered at me for dinner time and I just about died of joy.

:heartpulse:

Amazing and rewarding!! There is no doubt from the pictures that their expressions and the look in their eyes has already softened quite a bit  These two seem to already be figuring out life is on the upswing!! And kudos to your not-so-starving ones for being a good example lol!

I’m sure they’ve been talking to the other boys and were told it’s a great place to be.

we had one horse that had gone through multiple owners before we got him, at first he just thought (believed?) this was just another stop on his road to his end

I started loading him every afternoon in the trailer and just drove around some then brought him back to his paddock (he was in quarantine as he had just arrived)

Did this for nearly two weeks before he really really understood this was his home (he Did Like going to the doughnut shop who had started making him a large apple fritter)

I believe this is the rare “Hotel California” fable that is set into lore by the bard Eagles. That one right? :smirk:

(I am totally down for a daily apple fritter)

There is great power in good role models :joy: and it was a calculated move on my part to put them next to my herd boss and his bestie (who are both chow hounds and pocket ponies). And guess who were all waiting at their respective gates for me this morning, in anticipation of breakfast…

Both kids have mild snotty noses and goopy eyes this morning, looks like we’ve probably got a touch of the flu. Other than the snots, they still have ravenous appetites and are looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed so unless something changes, for now I’m just keeping an eye on it.

Hopefully it’s just what the wind blew in. I’ve had the snots this morning too.

I’m an sqweeing on your behalf. I’m so glad they are opening up to you. I’m sure it helps that they are young/impressionable and you have other chubby good citizen horses who are telling Bert and Ernie that they are safe. Love all the updates - keep them coming.
