Most durable rubber bit

Looking to try some rubber bit options that are as durable as possible. What do you love? No hard plastic “Happy Mouth” types please, rubber only.

She chewed through her Trust InnoSense in 6 rides, and she’s not “a chewer”, so that’s out.

I was going to pursue a Winderen, but I’ve seen some posts going around FB with photos of very chewed Winderen bits, so I got a bit spooked at that one!

We can’t wrap the bit in anything due to Equestrian Canada regulations, and I will be showing her eventually.

I’ve used a Nathe or maybe HS Duo on a few young horses that chomped or chewed and it doesn’t have any marks on it (really think it’s a Nathe, but can’t remember).

Maybe it’s worth wrapping anything new until it’s no longer new and different? At least give yourself a replaceable layer until you know what she thinks.

I have “a chewer” and he left quite a few marks on the Duo I tried on him just once. Not sure I’d trust it for a horse that went through another bit in a half dozen rides!

M OTTB chewed through two HS Duos in just a few months. I switched him to a Myler comfort snaffle and voila! Happy horse, and happier pocket book!

The HS duo is hard plastic and easily chewed. Went through 2 of them.

My horse hadn’t put one mark on his nathe bit. He’s easier to bridle in it.

I wanted to try the Trust version but not after your post.

You can wrap a thin layer of bit tape for the first couple rides to see if any damage.

Huh, weird. My duo is soft. Pretty much the same as my nathe. Did they make a hard version at some point?

No clue. My Duo’s are slightly bendy, more like a slightly flexible Mullen mouth and not very soft at all. I purchased from Smartpak.

My nathe is very soft and bendable.

I have a bit from Agador’s which is the same mechanism but she doesn’t seem to love it.

This is a great idea, I don’t know why I didn’t think of this

Will take a look at the Nathes too!

My Trust has been the “hardiest” of them all so I’m not sure what else I’d try. Is it the soft or the flexi soft?

My guy chewed up Nathe and Duo quickly. No marks on Winderen or the more budget friendly Metalab Flexi bit!

I think it’s the Flexi soft

I recently saw a bit in a tack shop that I was interested in, it is a rubber mouthpiece and was very malleable. It was called the AJR Silo Flex. Might be worth looking into!
