Most ventilated MIPS helmet

Tell me about your MIPS helmet and its ventilation. Is it better or worse than what you used before?

I have been a die hard Tipperary helmet user for almost 15 years. I love the comfort and the huge vents, even though I think the helmet itself is kind of ugly. The new Tipperary Windsor states it has 6 vents but they must be small because you can’t even see them looking at photos online. It’s obviously designed for the show ring, which I understand. But honestly I ride every day and want to be more comfy!

The Charles Owen’s MIPS helmet was the best available for my head shape when I was shopping but I have found I over heat way more than I did with my OneK. CO’s are not known for ventilation anyway. I’ve heard good things about Trauma Void for ventilation but I can’t speak from experience.

I ordered a Trauma Void EQ3. It didn’t have many vents (very similar to most show helmets with the small almost invisible ones). Unfortunately I ordered a size too small and had to return it, so I can’t really comment on how it felt while riding.

I have the Trauma Void Lynx, just started wearing it this winter. Love the fit, very comfortable, love the added protection. I have a very low tolerance for summer heat though, and based on my experience on warm winter days, I’ll need to find a different helmet for summertime. I originally tried the EQ, and it seemed better ventilated, but absolutely did not fit. So I’ll be following this thread for reviews about the Charles Owen MIPS models’ ventilation!

When is that darn helmet going to be available? I feel like I’ve been waiting forever. Now they’re teasing it but I wish they’d just forget the buildup and release it already!

I posted above but I have the CO My PS with MIPS and I overheat regularly wearing it in 30 F weather. Its gotten better as I get used to it though. I am waiting for OneK to come out with a model since they fit me better and have actual ventilation.

I found it at an online Canadian store this morning. I thought they were available.

I checked Smartpak and Dover and didn’t see the helmet there. They’re the two big online retailers I would expect to receive stock first

I overheat very easily. I too love my Tipp. Last year I bought a Trauma Void Lynx which I like a lot. Once we were in the the heat of the summer, I went back to my Tipp. Until I fell off. Hard to compare falls, but having fallen in the Tipp, and the Lynx (young horse), I felt it a lot more in the Tipp than the Lynx, so I think that I will stick with the Lynx all year round. Hopefully, I am getting fitter again, and my testing of helmets will be done for a bit.

I love the look of the Windsor but have been advised to stay away from wide brim helmets for eventing. Does the brim pose a concern to any of you? I’m not planning on eventing beyond Beginner Novice anytime soon.

I borrowed a friends CO Pro II Skull to wear around the yard to see how it felt heat wise and it was far too hot for my tastes so I’m following this thread with great interest!

I asked myself the same thing about brims.

I used to have a CO skull cap and it was the hottest helmet I’ve owned. I need at least some functional vents.

Did you actually manage to pull up the page with the helmet and add it to your card? I’ve tried several times and get the same error message (which is why I reached out to the company on FB). Maybe it’s my computer?
