Most ventilated MIPS helmet

I also just bought a Tipperary MIPs helmet (the Windsor) with the wide brim and LOVE it! I rode with it one day last week when the temperature was in the high 80"s (Texas) and the ventilation was good. It fits like a glove, is lightweight and very comfortable. I like the wider brim to keep the sun out of my eyes.

I feel it’s a good value too for the money. I paid about $350 for it at our local tack store, it might be a bit less expensive online.

I have both the Tip Sportage and the new Windsor MIPs helmet and yes, I think the sizing is consistent. The new Windsor helmet has a dial in the back which allows you to tighten or loosen it, making it somewhat adjustable.

Great! Now I just need to be able to leave my house and ride. Can’t really justify buying helmet for sitting on my couch…

You’ll be extra safe if you get drunk and roll off the couch

I ordered the CO skull cap and wide brim MIPS hat. The skull cap is comparable to other CO skull caps, so if you like those it won’t be much different. The black MIPS skull cap doesn’t come with a cover for some reason…I just used my old CO cover but it doesn’t fit it very well. I have not received the wide brim hat yet, but will update you on how that goes.

It is a WEIRD feeling with the MIPS technology! Being able to tell that the helmet can rotate will take some getting used to, but I am so glad this technology is now readily available for equestrians!

Maybe I’m weird, but I just got the CO My PS and I don’t think it feels all that different. It does run about one size small, IMO.

where do u find fancy lynx helmets in europe?

Oh really? I’m planning to order it online and have been a 7 1/8 in all other CO helmets I’ve worn in my life (been a loyal customer for years thanks to my head shape). I find that, at least in my recent CO purchases, they have started off very tight and then loosened up a bit over 1-2 months of wear. Do you think this might be the case with the My PS too, or does it just run small? Do you find the ventilation is any better/worse than other CO helmets?

Another long-time CO wearer here! I have the My PS as well. I think it fits like the CO AYR8 Plus, which I had to go up one size in from the AYR8 (7 1/8 v 7).

I’ve had mine a few months now and have not noticed any change in the fit. The newer models I’ve had (My PS, AYR8 Plus, AYRBrush) don’t seem to have the foam “squish” down like my older ones (multiple AYR8s) did.

The ventilation slots look the same as the AYR models. I haven’t ridden in it in hot weather yet, so I don’t know if there’s any difference.

I’ve always worn a size 7 in all other CO helmets, but the size 7 in my MyPS is pretty small. I have been putting off buying a bigger liner to see if it squishes down but I’ve had it since July now and it still feels too tight. So I would size up a bit, hope that helps!

I can’t speak for the ventilation in Charles Owen because they don’t suit my big, Polish block head, but I have the EQ3, and I highly recommend it. I got thrown off my horse last month, and landed on my head. I should have had a gnarly concussion, but I didn’t somehow. So I stand behind the MIPS technology 1000%.

I also think that the vents work well because the engineers put a lot of thought into the shape and direction of air flow. I used to have a Tipp. Sportage at one point, and I got a OneK after, and the OneK felt like it had air conditioning. I could feel the air going in the vents in the front and then getting sucked out of the back. So the size of the holes don’t always directly correspond to the cooling capabilities.

I got the wide brim Charles Owns MyPS for Christmas, but I am just now using it. It fits well, but still just seems top heavy, or appears top heavy. It is very heavy compared to my OneK and I miss my OneK honestly. But this one is safer, they say, so I am wearing it. The Tipperary looks pretty nice!

I agree! I have always been a 71/8 with hair in my helmet forever. But this is tight and will not loosen with time because of the material. I just wear my hair in a neat low bun. My trainer claims it is safer that way anyway.

It does help (thanks to @ladybugsbw too)! I’ll size up.

Reviving this because I nearly passed out in the heat in my Lynx today. Going to go back to my Tipp (non-MIPS) until I can get something better ventilated. Passing out on a horse is not safe either. Now that the weather is warmer, the Tipp MIPS breathable?

Bummer, I’m wondering if there are any MIPS helmets that are breathable. Does the technology allow for it? I agree though, passing out on a horse is not good either. Unfortunately, I don’t have any suggestions. I have an EQ3 currently and waiting for a lynx to come in.

I have the Tipperary MIPS (Windsor) and I haven’t really noticed a big difference in breathability between it and my Tipperary Sportage Hybrid. I think the ventilation is fairly similar… but that’s just my opinion/impression!

That said, for me personally I think some days are just so crazy hot that no helmet is going to provide enough ventilation to stay “cool.” Last summer when I was still working on getting my fitness back from a long riding break, I had several hot days where I literally blacked out and was dry-heaving after trotting… I was wearing the Tipp hybrid for those rides, but the heat and exertion was too much.

I also think the Windsor and Sportage are about the same in terms of circulation. At times I feel HOT in either. They are sweaty post-ride. I don’t know that I have ever ridden in a helmet that truly felt COOL and I have never felt the heat to be such an overwhelming problem that it interfered with my riding.

Any word on the One K MIPS hat? It’s been “coming soon” for months. I wonder if the pandemic postponed it.

I’ve been wearing the Back on Track EQ3 and the weather’s been hot the last few days. I didn’t notice particularly being hot under my helmet, so I guess it is about the same as my previous helmet (Tipperary Sportage). Remove tack & helmet, then hose horse and self

I also tried on the Tipperary Windsor at the tack shop this weekend. I usually wear a medium, and this one was a bit snug in the medium.
