The really long bows the Asians are using are really cool, but could you imagine being on a battlefield and trying to maneuver that thing around your horse while on the move? You would lose valuable shooting time just swinging it from one side of your horse’s head to the other, etc.

I thought the same thing. Looks like the Mongolians use shorter ones when mounted, which makes sense.

Perhaps the longer bows are more traditional for the Japanese? Dunno, but in the photos from my previous post it certainly looks like they are using them to good effect.
