Copied from FB, not my words. Warning, the video is graphic.
We do have film laws in the US for the human treatment of animals, in older movies you can see horses being tripped but I’ve never seen a horse forced to fall while jumping.
"In Russia, production of a new film called ‘My Favorite Champion’ is well underway. Instead of utilizing CGI, a horse’s legs were tripped to induce a massive rotational wreck. The video circulating the platform previously known as Ťŵîțțêř shows three men in the background pulling a clear cord over the legs of the animal. There is a lot to unpack there but on top of all of that, the film is at least partially sponsored by the Russian Equestrian Federation. 🫠
Obviously, rotational wrecks are the leading cause of riders deaths and the leading cause of equine neck and back fractures. We should be forcing the use of safety technologies in sport more than we are already, never mind intentionally causing these accidents in non-sport climates. I would be interested in knowing what power film unions and acting guilds have to ban the practice of forcibly simulating these accidents on set and if the public has enough pressure to make this happen."
“I’ll link the video here—content warning; the horse comes away with an obvious major hind leg injury. https://x.com/nexta_tv/status/1812185209577545975”
