Movie - "Wild Ride" (Calumet)

I stumbled across this film on IMDB listed with a 2010 date, but I’ve never seen it cited before. Nothing comes up with it having actually been released let alone a finished DVD out there. IMDB cites a Los Angeles debut back in June 1, 2010. Add to that a budget of $6M and supposedly gross receipts of $7,117,110 (non-USA) as 20 December 2010. Add to that one of the listed actors was Morgan Freeman.

One non-IMDB internet mention said it was to be shot in Lexington, KY but I’d think if so it would’ve been more widely noted.

The entry has all the hallmarks of being a fake movie having never been made but that just me wearing my tin foil hat

Internet Movie Data Base: Wild Ride

This film is based on a true story, and set in the affluent world of Kentucky thoroughbred horse racing; a close-knit society with a fiercely protected reputation as the guardians of this, “the sport of kings.”

The rest of the summary is absolutely atrociously written. There is no mention of the well regarded book of the same title by author Ann Hagedorn Auerbach as having been involved.

Anyone?

There is this video behind the scenes done in 2009 on the farm. And from 1992 the NBC Sports off shoot of the George Michael Sports Machine had done this video on the auction of the property.

Wasn’t that the title of the book about the fall of Calumet?

Yes. As I mentioned in connection there is no mention of the well regarded book of the same title by author Ann Hagedorn Auerbach. The subject matter is good enough mixed with true mystery to make for a good movie …

RE:

Hi! This is quite interesting. I wouldn’t have known about this movie if I haven’t read your post! Thanks!

I will have to ask our friend about this, he managed the yearling barn there…

Strange. If Morgan Freeman and Diane Lane really are in this, they must have owed someone a big favor!

One of the supposed producers showed up here a few months ago- http://www.ehorseracingresults.com.au/horse-racing/alydar, saying that the movie isn’t finished yet and should be released sometime next year.

It does show up on some of the shady download sites, but unless you want a really funky virus to come along with it I wouldn’t recommend trying to watch it that way.

The Mine That Bird movie is also titled “Wild Ride” at this point, so that should confuse things even more.
