Moving to Ft. Campbell, KY, need boarding suggestions!

I’m potentially moving to Fort Campbell, KY and living on the Clarksville, TN side in August, 2014. I will be bringing my Lux Z mare in foal and would like to find a good, safe place to board her. Doesn’t have to be a show barn, though that would be a plus if I could get in some catch riding! Rode through the low amateurs jumpers and was a professional for several years before going back for more education and starting a family. I would love to just be able to sit on some horses and possibly get to do a little showing. My main goal is to get my mare taken care of though  Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions!

If you are in the military, I believe ft. campbell has their own stables. Don’t know much about it, but I’ve past it and there is a lot of land associated with the stables……good luck.

That is near cambelsville am I correct or no ? I apologize I’m not overly familiar with the area. Are you looking for a stable on the TN or KY side ? What is the closest KY town near there ?

The closest town on the KY side is… Hopkinsville, KY, and a town called Oak Grove I believe. I have read bad things about living in that area, so I don’t think I want my horse to live there… I’m not sure about Cambelsville? I know Clarksville is the closets town on the TN side. I really need good suggestions for a barn that can foal her out. I have an infant and don’t want to be responsible for going out and checking her around the clock

My daughter knows a few barns in Franklin. That’s closer to Nashville though.

You’ve probably realized that there are not any H/J show barns within reasonable driving distance to the base, especially if you have an infant.

If I were in your situation, I would call or email Julie Bush at Warioto in Franklin. She’s the general manager at the farm. I don’t think I have ever met her in person, but this is the farm that stood the gorgeous TB stallion named Viscount. They enjoyed many years of successful breeding and foaling.

Their contact information is at the bottom of their website - wariotofarminc.com.

Feel free to PM me if I can help answer any questions for you.

There are a few farms in the area, but there really isn’t a show scene. This place is involved with the Kentucky Dressage Association and I’ve seen them around:

I don’t personally know them, so I can’t vouch for anything.

This place is just south of Clarksville:

They don’t do a lot of advertising, but I attended a show on the grounds once and the place seemed pretty nice. They have a website, but it only seems to work half the time.

For a while, there was a capable eventing trainer in the area, but I can’t seem to recall her name or find her information. It looks like she may have relocated.

As far as breeders or people with foaling experience in the area, I can not think of any who I would recommend based on the way they advertise.

Good luck! Northern middle TN/southern KY is pretty devoid of a horse scene, unfortunately…
