Moving to Northern Minnesota (Duluth/Superior Wisconsin)

I’m moving to Duluth Minnesota and I’d like to learn more about what horse boarding, training, groups, are in the area. I currently have two horses with I’m sure more to come. I currently am pursuing lower level eventing and in the future would like to pursue upper level dressage. I’d also love to find a group of people to trail ride with; really just want to join the horse community. For a boarding facility I’d like something not terribly far away (within 30 minutes or so). An indoor riding arena is a requirement. A place with nice pasture available would be great.

Any input/recommendations would be sincerely appreciated!

Kate Phillips is in Sauk Rapids. Sorry I don’t know the geography… Mississippi View Farm. . She is a wonderful trainer. She comes to Ocala regularly and I had a lesson with her yesterday. She has helped me with some specific issues. She is also an R judge in the S program.

I am flying into Duluth next week to judge North Country Dressage (I think its called Its cooler by the lake show). They may be a resource for you.

I clinic frequently with Anne Cizadlo, who is a USEF “S” judge, and beginning the process of becoming an FEI judge, as well as a trainer (currently assistant trainer to Robert Dover at Romance Farms). She’s originally from the Duluth area, and I’m pretty sure she clinics up there on a semi-regular basis (she lists Kateri Farms in Superior, WI on her website as a regular stop and last year’s calendar included a couple clinic dates in Duluth, MN with contact Jen Hofsommer 218.780.3817). Could also reach out directly to Anne (she lists email and phone info on her site as well) to see if she has any other suggestions in that area.

Kate Phillips clinics monthly at BREC(Big Rock equestrian center). Brittany Davis is the trainer at BREC and trains under Kate. Also in the area is Julie Davies Pagels at Full sail Farm. Brittany offers boarding and Julie just purchased a new farm so I’m not 100% if she offers but both at near the Duluth area.
