MSM and Oil

I have usually fed the MSM pellets but the amount of pellets to be fed vs the MSM powder / granules is simply more cost effective. I am looking for a good binder like a oil of some kind to help it stick to the feed. I don’t feed but a 1.5 cooking measuring cup of ADM pelleted feed so it does not have a lot of feed to stick to. Any good recommendations for a low fat oil sun flower? I know alot feed corn oil but the mammoth donkey does not need any more added fat, I realize most oils will have added fat but which has the least? Or a better suggestion then an oil?

Oil, by definition, is never going to be low fat. All oils are all pure fat.

Just use water.

Just read an article about oil and it suggest applesauce, unsweetened would be perfect for this.

Are you sure they won’t eat the powder? I feed pellets and my horses lick whatever powder they may get out of the tubs.

Sure, that’ll work. Water works, too, and doesn’t require a trip to the grocery store or any refrigeration

I use MSM powder, and water works great to get it to stick to grain.

My horse gets all his powder supplements dry on a small handful of pellets and licks it all up. Might be worth a shot to save some seconds and effort!

@drafting_dots Your horse is good! Mine has a patented system of swirling the contents of his bucket and using the side of his muzzle to lift and shake the offending supplements to the bottom! He seems to especially hate when I add electrolytes in the summer. And recently when I mixed his usual grade with Stable Mix, he was not pleased.

@Training Cupid LOL or he’s just a pig!! Not even electrolytes? I’m sorry for you

I had a empty supplement jug with pump dispenser and put water in it and some kayro syrup to sweeten the water and that seems to be doing the trick, but do not tell my mule!

My picky mare actually seems to be liking MSM powder, shockingly. Normally adding any new powders to her grain nets me 4 or 5 days of funny faces (she always eats the stuff though).

Sounds like your flavoured water trick will work without all the calories of oil. You could try using diluted kool-aid too!

Kool aid and flavored jello will be my next go to if needed!
