After missing ALL of the eventing because I don’t have NBC Sports and could not access Ex-Pat or the BBC or any livestream coverage, I was all set to watch the dressage this afternoon on MSNBC. Invited a friend out. Had the whole hour blocked out from my very busy schedule.
Turned on the TV at the time that is STILL posted on the NBC Olympics web site under Equestrian.
What we saw was badminton. The local NBC affiliate rep said that they posted the new schedule on the daily table but hadn’t changed it on the SPORTS schedule on the web site.
I actually had the TV on this morning while I was getting ready for my phone meeting and saw NO dressage.
I wish I had a way to ruin the day for everyone at MSNBC and NBC the way they have ruined this day for me.
I am not going to even try to watch any more of the equestrian events. I cannot stay home glued to the TV or Internet in case they change the schedules again without notice. I do have a life, and no one in it is named Klimke or Fox-Pitt or whatever else the names are of these riders I have never met and don’t even know. I am not going to let them or their humongous horses matter to me any more. I have never liked Michael Phelps and there is no reason for me to be a groupie to any of the equestrian athletes either.
My friends’ horses do not care whether or not I have an Ipad or an Ipod or cable or satellite or a medal or fans or sponsors. They just love carrots and having their itches scratched. and that I can give them.
So to heck with all this crap taking place 4,000 miles away from where I live, and with people telling me I am an Internet idiot because I can’t download apps they say are free, that I know are not because I have seen the payment window for them.
F*** it all. I’m going to go play with a real live horse and coach riders whose names I know and don’t have little flags on their lapels, because — guess what? – our riding T-shirts don’t HAVE lapels.
Y’all enjoy your hi-tech apps and your “freakin’ fabulous” live streams and your six-figure warmbloods and your equestrian heroes and heroines.
I’m outta here.
