Muck boots (neoprene): Can you wash 'em?

Title says it all. Hurricane Sally got my waterproof boots wet on the inside. I mean, weh-het! I think I’d rather wash them than just dry them out. Can Muck Boots be washed? These are ankle-high ones.

Thanks!

Probably but they’re going to beat up your washer.

You can wash neoprene. I’d do it with a hose or in a deep sink, and soap by hand, not in the washer. Neoprene floats. It will take a while to dry, be prepared.

Yes. I put my kid’s Muck Boots in the washing machine after a particularly enthusiastic bout of jumping in muddy puddles, they were full of mud water. I did it on the gentle cycle, cold water, no detergent and air dried them, I might have put some other stuff (dog/barn towels maybe?) In the washer to dampen the ker-thumping. My thought was to avoid heat/detergent so as not to ruin the glue that holds the rubber bits together.

But I also don’t care about ruining my washing machine…it’s on it’s last leg anyway (front loader, bearing is going out). The boots came out fine and lived to see many more muddy puddles. I think they were fully dry in about 36 hours.

Thank you all!

I want to clean out the inside where they got so wet that you could dump water out.

Self serve car wash.

yes, absolutely! depending on what it is, a hose off, or for dirtier ickier things - for your muck boots I would rinse - and if they are super icky would use some mild dish soap and rinse them very well and then and let them dry in the sun.

Totally. I’d use the garden hose. Squirt of soap inside the boot, fill with water, scrub the inside with a rough rag or small brush. After you rinse them well, find a way to direct a fan up inside the boots. For example, get 2 little battery-powered fans.

I toss my neoprene girth in the washer with a couple of saddle pads and it comes out great! So put them in with a towel or saddle pad!
