Muffy Seaton has passed away ETA donations to CAA

It is with a heavy heart that I share that Muffy Seaton is no longer with us and has crossed the rainbow bridge to be greeted by so many dogs, cats, ponies (the fleas!!), horses, from her long life with animals and driving.

She was a pillar in the community for driving. I had the opportunity to take lessons from her when I was in my early 20’s and we both lived in Middleburg area. I would drive to her place.

Muffy is going to leave a very big void in the driving world.

Here is the FB link via the CAA: https://www.facebook.com/CarriageAssociation

just in case the link does not work:
We are saddened by the news of the passing of Muffy Seaton of South Carolina. Muffy was a popular clinician, judge, trainer, CAA Proficiency Evaluator and this past year was working on becoming an Attelage judge and TD. Always with a smile and encouraging words, Muffy will be greatly missed. Our sincere condolences to Doug and Muffy’s family and her many, many friends.

ETA: update via a friend on FB
Donations for Muffy may be made at the below link in lieu of flowers. There will be no funeral but we’re talking about a celebration of life in the spring. Interment will be private. (I edited personal info)

When I was very new to Driving - maybe a dozen lessons - Trainer held a clinic with Ms Seaton & lent me her saintly pony.
From her I got the advice that has stayed with me to this day, some 15yrs later:
I’d asked how to stop a runaway in a carriage.
As a rider, pulley-rein was a GoTo, but this didn’t seem feasible driving.
Her advice:
Aim for something solid
Godspeed & Drive on!

I’m glad she got to go home from the hospital, I hope she got to see all of her critters. Big hugs to Doug…

So sorry to hear of her passing. I groomed for Muffy when I was in college (a long time ago!) and galloped Smokey for her. Loved watching her career and successes.

In the late 1990’s? We may have met way back when. I was working for a coaching driver and used to go to Muffy’s when we would leg up the horses.

Even before that! Mid-80’s.
