Music to a mother's ears

“Mom, I want to go hunting with you.”
DS, 6

Turns out, he’s not quite ready to go out on horse, but would like to follow in a car or gator.

Find yourself a steady-eddy pony/horse, a western saddle and a leadline. Kid can hang on to the horn over the rough stuff, and lots of pony western saddles have tapaderos, way safer for first time out, and you can pony the little dude. This assumes that your own hunt horse is a solid second-fielder that can be counted on to fall behind the field. Take the kid out for half-hour, pass off to groom/friend/well-bribed-family-member and finish the hunt yourself!

That’s wonderful news!!!
I hope you can get him out in whatever conveyance he feels comfortable using. Has he been up on a horse/pony yet?
