Mustangs in endurance

Does anyone use their mustang for endurance? I am thinking about dabbling in this area. My mare LOVES to trail ride and I do as well. I know they aren’t your traditional endurance breed, but thought it might be something worth looking into. Just curious if anyone else rides a mustang that they do endurance with. Thanks!

I noticed there were about a half-dozen who did Tevis this year with good completion rates. I believe they were all owned or mostly owned by the same outfit promoting them. Arabians dominant because they are so go, go, go. I’ve wondered how well Mustangs would do as they seem to not be energy wasteful. I’ve only got one and he’s my first but most people characterize them as horses who don’t burn energy if they don’t have to. I’m sure they’ve got the stamina to do it; it’s the drive I wonder about. Just for fun, I looked up the roster of winners for the Tevis Cup and one Mustang won back in 1960.

I’ve owned and bred Arabians and those horses really will run just for the simple joy of it.

It could definitely depend on the individual horse I suppose. I have to make my mare quit for the day. I swear she would ride all the way back to Nevada if I were up for it  . Thank you for your reply! I LOVE Arabians and have had several in the past. Probably next on my list after my mare is old and retired which is a long time from now
