Thank you for this clinic report, OP–and for reminding me to revisit the USEF George H. Morris flatwork clinic that Anne led (which a few other posters referenced), I’ve been meaning to do that for some time. Here’s a link–I know that it requires a membership, but I did get a free USEF fan membership awhile back and I think many other COTHers did as well.

When they did that triathlon class for several years at WEF, where the jumper riders tried to do dressage, and the dressage riders attempted to jump, Anne won the dressage phase more often than not.

It’s too bad they stopped doing that class. That was always an entertaining spectacle.

@MHM Oh, I wish I could see that class from WEF! And that doesn’t surprise me that she won. If I could “dressage” as well as Anne K does in a hunt seat saddle as I do in my dressage saddle, I would die a happy woman.

Anne K. and Todd Minikus were usually very strong contenders for the dressage phase. Some of the dressage riders had more luck over jumps than others.

Then for the third phase of the triathlon, both the jumper riders and dressage riders attempted to play polo, which was generally pretty darn hilarious!

Your horse looks super cute in the photo and you looked beautifully turned out, Very glad to hear that you went and had a fantastic experience from a superior horsewoman. Congrats!

Thank you! My new goal is to work on things and do an actual clinic with her next year to show what we learned! I have friends tell me all the time that my form is actually very good (working on my heels) but to hear it come from someone that successful and to hear her say she really likes my horse because she’s able to look past his apparent young hissy fit was honestly what I needed. It was a little boost of confidence that maybe, just maybe, I can do this! Not having a trainer and learning this all while teaching my gelding is a bit overwhelming! Not how I’d prefer to do it but I’m 2+ hours from any trainers worth paying so…
