my coat now has colors!

I am so excited! My friend just dropped off my hunt coat. She was kind enough to put the colors I earned on the collar and cuffs. She is a member of the hunt and did a brilliant job!

I hope to wear them at the hunter trials on saturday…but it’s a heavy coat and we are having unseasonable hot weather…aka 96 degrees today! new record…bleck…so i might just wear a show coat (and not colors)…decisions!

Congratulations!

For hot days you can always wear a sleeveless shirt and no vest underneath. And you can tell your coat to store that heat for a few months, so it will be available when needed in December/January:).

Congratulations!
You get to have cuffs, too? Lucky you! Our hunts only do collars and buttons. Will you post some pics for us?

Congrats!! What a very nice friend you have. Good luck at the hunter trials and I hope it isn’t too hot!

I was going to ask the same thing. I’ve never seen it on cuffs, although there are lots of things I’ve never seen. Which hunt is this?

Congrats!!! I hope you get some cool weather to use your new coat!!!

How interesting! Please post pics of your coat, and tell us what hunt, as I haven’t seen colored cuffs except on some very vintage (1920s or earlier era) coats from Beaufort in England and a French hunt. I hadn’t realized a modern-day hunt was still utilizing that tradition.

Congratulations!

Still no pics, or what hunt? Hmmmm…

Bigbaytb is coming to hunt with me at ODH this weekend, so I can tell you that the coat and hunt are real. She doesn’t have the premium posting package.

You be spayshell!!!

You go girl!! You rock! Enjoy the feeling. It’s special, really special! Smile a lot and never let 'em see you sweat! Ride taller, feeeeel the fun!
You are part of the hunting fraternity so be proud!

Even after many years; you’ll still feel special when you don them. Even with the extra responsibility of being a hunts representative of sorts. No more anonymous! Enjoy…have fun!!

and send pictures!

sorry…I keep forgetting to take pics…I have the coat in my truck at the barn so i won’t forget it …I’ll try to take a pic tonight or tomorrow when I get there…

They do colors on cuffs at ODH? I didn’t know that. Thanks.

No, ODH doesn’t do cuffs. We have another unique thing we do with colors. Brick breeches. Which now only come in rust. Rappahannock does rust, too, and for the same reason. It doesn’t show the Virginia clay soil! We get more hunting time out of a pair and still don’t look quite so bad at the Breakfast.

I’ve seen that. I think it looks very nice. I think bbtb threw some of us when she said on the cuffs, I’m not familiar with any hunts that do that.

Actually RH does rust or tan britches with colors for women who are wearing a black coat with colors. For men in scarlet it is white or tan britches.

Oops!

My Apologies!
Being a lady, I think of women’s attire. I guess when I rode with them, there were mostly ladies around me.

Ok, Here’s the link to my coat and vest:

Pretty! Interesting colors, too. I wonder how they picked them. The cuffs are so different from what I had imagined. I thought the whole cuff would be a different color. I like the vest in the same color. Is that part of the colors?

Yes, the vest and piping should be “robin’s egg blue” with the burgundy on the collar and piping on cuffs.

Ya know, I should find out why our colors are as such. I would guess because there are alot of robin (birds) in the area.

the pinques/staff have the burgundy on the collar with the blue piping and vest too.
