I am just going to put this out there. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we had an independent and a full care facility for elderly people that was equestrian inspired at WEC? You could have shuttles to watch the show. A church on property. Shopping and more shopping. Access to great restaurants. Maybe there could be a retirement barn on the property with horses you could brush or see in the turn outs, or just smell a barn. Some people might be owners/investors and can see their horses in person. You could watch Clip My Horse 24/7 in a library full of horse books with all your buddies. Mainly you could hang out with people who have loved horses their whole lives and have a common bond. It might be where a professional’s parents could live so they could watch you show also a concierge Dr on hand and a shuttle service to Dr appointments. I would make a reservation for myself now for when I get older. You could offer small houses, condos, apartments, memory care and 24 hour nursing if you needed. A lot of us with aging parents own farms here so we could be close to our loved ones while still maintaining our customers with less travel so we are available . Ok I had the idea…… now go!

I’d sign me up.
I think there’s an assisted living facility in Kentucky that backs up to an OTTB aftercare farm or rescue, and horses were integrated in some (more minor) way to the facility’s programming. I remember seeing an area set up near one of the turnouts where people could safely sit and watch the horses. Does that sound familiar to anyone? I might’ve seen it on a local, Lex or Louisville newscast during Derby week within the past few years. Though I could be way off on that.
This is a brilliant idea!
Old Friends has an arrangement with a newer senior facility that adjoins their property in Georgetown. Not sure of the details on who developed that property or if it is part of the original farm OF took over.
That’s it!!!
Thank you!
We have this here where I live! It’s a high end senior living place and has a horse program. It’s not near horse shows but it has everything else plus horses! You can go in as independent and progress up to what you need as you age.
I just want one for us poor trainers when we get old…that is affordable and safe
I’ve had that business idea for years! Next to a foaling facility - and plenty of rockers for story telling!
May Be a pink scooter brigade to go volunteer at the Horse Park!
Also a B&B that has a kennel ! So folks can leave pets to go out for the evening.
I’d sign up but I won’t have enough income. So I’ll be thankful to get what I can on tv and internet.
Some eventing competitions have reached out to retirement communities to boost their volunteer bases.
For those curious, this is the link:
I was hoping my mom and dad could go there but my mom passed away last year and my dad moved somewhere right around the corner from me. My mom would have loved it!!
Pitch it! Huge money in senior living and religion both, might need a bigger chapel tho.
