My dog brought us a dead...

Guinea pig. Is there a health risk? How did a guinea pig end up in our yard?

Poor Guinea pig.

Oh dear. I’m guessing someone’s pet escaped. Or they buried it and your dog found the grave.
Pretty sure the only health risk was to the piggy. :frowning:

My Annie brought in another dead squirrel today — very large, very male, very dead, and still warm. I’m about to start renting her out to people who need the squirrels removed from their yards.

I expect the guinea pig was an escapee, and won’t cause any harm to your dog.

Your dog probably dug up a grave, or something else dug it up and dropped it your yard. And no, there shouldn’t be any health risk. My dog finds, eats and rolls in at least 3 dead things a week, from his own freshly killed squirrels to several month old deer carcasses. My personal favorite was a rotten skunk carcass which he dropped at my feet and rolled in  He’s never gotten sick, although he has stunk so bad I’ve nearly gotten sick on the car ride home

Neighbor thought throwing it over the fence would be easier than burying it…?

Just speculating.
