My first Betta fish

Well after a lot of research and planning I got my first Betta fish today
Back in April I lost my heart dog Panda and since then it’s just hasn’t felt right. I did foster a dog for awhile but my heart just wasn’t ready for another dog.
So I started looking into different options and ended up with a fish! I’m pretty excited. Obviously a fish is not going to replace Panda but I finally have something to give my love to

Meet Bolt! Named after my favorite hockey team (Tampa bay lightning AKA the Bolts). Got him in a 6.5 gallon aquarium with plants and hideouts and he seems to be happy

He’s very pretty. Or is that handsome? Love his colors.

these little guys have quite the personality.
Ihad one, years ago,
He puld puff up when I put my fingertip on the side of the tank!

I had him with some other fish in a 10g aquarium. Some guppies, tetras, I believe, sword fish.
He did well there.

Have fun with Bolt! Bettas are fun to watch and take care of. I’ve had quite a few throughout the years and always enjoyed them. I was in a pet store getting some crickets for my bird and took a quick glance at the Bettas. One was a beautiful russet orange colour, I came close to buying him but decided that it’s not a great idea to have a small tank around six cats.

Very nice! I’m down to two guppies in a 20 gallon tank. I’m debating whether I get a few more guppies, or if I should switch to a betta. I had one years ago, got him my first week of University. I called him Fezel and he lived for all four years of undergrad. It was relaxing just watching him swim when exams and school work was stressing me out.
