My friends trainer might be abusing her horses, how do I tell her?

Yes.
From this & your previous posts about horses you have/sold/want to buy or sell, you seem to sniff out Drama.
If this barn is the same place as you posted about earlier, maybe you need to find a different place to keep your horse(s?) & train.

ETA:
Horses rub poles with their fronts/forefeet/front legs not “hands”
As quadrupeds - Spanish: cuadrapedo/cuadrapeda - they have 4 legs, not hands & legs.

Full stop. Sorry. I get the ESL part but your posts on COTH thus far can read like a day time soap. This is a case of MYOB. The trainer either is or isn’t doing what you say, does or doesnt have skinny/fat only/no muscle horses, but he has a core group of followers and your friend is one of them.

Sorry, I honestly don’t sniff out drama but I can get where you can get that from. I did report to my federation and it seems the trainer had gotten in trouble before at another barn so it seems I was right to blow the whistle

And sorry about calling them hands, we call them that in spanish as a colloquial term and thought it was the same in english.

Be an advocate for the horse, and tell your friend.

Hey guys, why are we continuing to feed the troll???

Agree.
Her posts, when they (d?)evolve, aren’t even as entertaining as some of the past trainwrecks :smirk:

MahNahMahNah (sp?), anyone?
TB herding cattle stampede?
The now-departed SLC?
& so many more…

Well, I think it’s unfair to call her a troll. It’s possible she is exactly who she says she is - but doesn’t really realize that most posters on COTH are not really interested in the catty drama of teenagers in a barn. It’s possible that this trainer is abusive; it’s possible he’s just doing his job and not overly interested in impressing teenagers in his barn. But, it’s unlikely that a 19 year old client in another barn is going to shake up his world and/or change anything.

If you don’t like the way someone treats you or your animals - don’t give them your money. If your friends don’t agree with you…that’s how life goes. There isn’t much to really discuss here, especially considering that it is entirely unsubstantiated and overly dramatic.

Hmmm, I don’t know - it all seems extremely “dubious” (for lack of a better word), and sounds exactly like the kind of “Drama Scenario” that a teen would make up to get attention.

Might I be wrong? :woman_shrugging:

(To add, well-intentioned COTHers have fallen for this sort of thing again and again, only to find out they were wasting their time and advice on a made-up post by a bored young person who was jerking them around. YYMV.)

Wow! Really?

And people wonder why there are less younger people or people don’t feel included to be in this sport?

I think leading by example is a very good idea.

In answer to the question and to some of the responses here; too.

Lead by your good example…

I’m not sure if this is true, but if it is, I’m convinced it has far more to do with money and access than online discussion boards like COTH.

The question is simple - if you believe a trainer might be abusing horses, what should you do? Well, if you can’t substantiate your claim, you should not spread rumors about them online. You can report them to some governing body, but you may need to substantiate your claim and/or sometimes places like this require you to actually pay to submit a complaint - which reduces baseless claims, retaliation, etc.

What you can do is avoid doing business with someone you don’t trust. You can advise your friends to do the same, but you can’t expect everyone to agree with you - especially if you cannot substantiate your suspicions.
