MorganSercu Me too. I was pretty shocked by the low quality of this article.
Just my opinion, NO!
It is an article clearly written to have a bias.
Very poorly written.
What a bizarre article! So much of trump interjected in a horse abuse article that has absolutely nothing to do with him. And all the pictures of him, wth!
There are a couple things in the article that I wonder if Stormy can’t use against WaPo and EH.
I did not see any photos of Trump in that article.
If the first part made you mad, the rest will make you more mad.
Especially if you know even just an overview of the ED history going back at least a decade, well before SD was on the scene. Or if you have ever talked with anyone of a host of people who came to regret their dealings with her. Or gotten an earful from certain event organizers who … well, let’s just say that her presence at their horse trials became on ongoing headache that had no cure, until the event was over and she left. None of which had anything to do with SD.
The article I received had more pix of him than of the horses or barn. I don’t know why but that’s how it displayed on my phone.
The article on my phone had no pictures of Trump at all. One picture of SD coming out of a courtroom a few years back, and the rest are all pictures of assorted horses at the farm.
I have opened the article four times now and that is what I have seen all of those times.
There are some ads for other articles at the bottom.
The article reminded me of how some parents who know nothing about horses pay big bucks for their kids to ride in terrible programs because the trainers have big, pretty barns and yell at the kids a lot, which they assume means good horsemanship. (I almost found it amusing that the fact the barn was “beautiful” was the only thing repeated through the article, as if that somehow equates to all the horses being treated well. Ditto the dad saying his girls were benefiting from a tough trainer.)
That line jumped out at me as well.
Seriously! Like we haven’t heard that before. It reminded me of how GM’s abusing riders in his clinics was justified.
I guess these pix are for other stories but the way they displayed on my phone I thought they were included in the EDH article.
Kinda weird.
The dark horse in the picture being led out to turn-out does not look healthy, and the outdoor footing looks atrocious. Oh, and if I recall correctly, the horse in one of the pictures, “Breaking All the Rules”, was named that specifically as an “in your face” response to some of the anti-ED folks who wanted her to leash her dogs and not bring horses with diseases to shows.
I can understand that maybe the writer of the article didn’t have time to read and digest the whole thread, but I don’t think there is any doubt that there was considerable buzz suggesting ED was a toxic trainer well before Stormy arrived on her scene, and since that time, there has been additional buzz that suggests that she is still a toxic trainer with more than a few issues in her life. I wonder if the dad who likes the fact that she is tough thinks having DUIs on her record is a good thing.
Maybe he was not aware of that fact when he made that comment.
For east TX barns during mud season, that arena doesn’t really stand out as atypical.
I wouldn’t have chosen any of those photos as testament of good care for an article of this publicity/scale. Nearly every photo was a ribby horse with poor topline and tucked stomach. Not every horse is going to be rolly polly in an event program but if I was under that level of scrutiny you bet I’d only be putting the best photos forward.
Photo editor probably doesn’t know horses, and if his/her goal is to paint SD as someone who would unfairly attack the poor, working-class outsider in a big money world, you can’t have the pictures looking too flashy.
Probably they know nothing about horses or condition. They wanted a photo with horses. There were horses in those photos. Good to go.
Also if the horses in ED’s barn generally look like that, all getting the same care standard, that’s what’s going to show up in photos.
