My horse has figured it out!

After two fabulous hunts this weekend I have to brag about my horse. He’s an OTTB that took a long time to get his brain around galloping in a group and not being first.

This is his third season in the hunt (his second spring) and I’m just so proud of him. While he’s still very keen, he’s learned to gallop without losing his mind, to stand at the check and to jump with the field calmly and safely.

Last fall he was almost there, but he still was more comfortable trotting fences. Last weekend the penny finally dropped and he can now gallop and jump.

This is a horse that I didn’t think would ever make it in the hunt field because he was so difficult to ride in a group so I’m just tickled pink to have a horse that turned out to be such a blast!

Oh, what a feeling!! You must be so proud of him–and of yourself for the way you brought him along–it has paid off. Congrats on now having a great hunt horse!!

it is a great feeling
