My horses

Ok usually I post in the Dressage section but this is not really about Dressage. It’s Spring and the weather is starting to be nice and my two redheads look gorgeous now that most of her shedding is done. So I really want to post pictures of them!! And of course I need to show off my new horse. He is a 7 year old Trakehner gelding from Denmark…
My two girls live outside 24/7, this is the winter area but once the grass starts growing they will move to big pastures… of course more walking for me to bring them to the barn every day…

Thank you . I still pinch myself everyday because I can’t believe I got such a nice horse…

I was looking for a younger horse around 3rd level because my old mare turned 16 this year and although she is super fit she is slowly becoming a senior…
And this search became very frustrating either the horses were totally overpriced or they were green ( I suspect all the nice trained horses are sold immediately to the US because you can make good money with them😥)
So I was ready to give up my idea and continue to train my nice green horses, when I saw an ad for a dressage horse on Eurodressage (usually not where I would look for horses). The horse sounded exactly what I was looking for and it was reasonably priced but it was in Denmark…. So I drove all the way up to Denmark (about 4 hours) and tried the horse… well it was a big disappointment because although it was a nice horse, there was simply no connecting between us… of course I was frustrated and disappointed and it probably showed. So the very nice and friendly danish professional said, that she did have another horse, which was a bit younger and a bit less experienced and was on the market since the day before. so I was the first person to try him… And that was him…. I was so lucky that I was the first person to try him….I am sure otherwise somebody else would have bought him…. he arrived the End of January and I am on Cloud 7 ever since……

Your gelding looks lovely but I adore the face and ears of that first chestnut…

Thanks for sharing! (Mine is fat and shaggy due to my work at the moment…I’ll get him curried up to a shine later this month)

Do you clip in winter? Remind me your geographic area (Europe right?)?

Thank you . She is the baby… she is 5 and is really a very nice horse. I found her by chance because I wasnt really looking for a new horse :flushed:.

And my two mares were never clipped so far because they lived out during the winter as well. It worked really well except for all the shedding in the last weeks 🥹. And yes I live in Germany…
The gelding was clipped in January before he was shipped to me…
