If you mean poll level with withers or above? That came out longer then 10 years ago. Closer to 20 IIRC.
I showed APHA in Texas mid 80s and won a lot, ranked 9th or 10th nationally for the year in a Western Riding with a very “California” style type but judges either gave an 85+ or a 65 on the same trip. Showed several AQHA horses but in Trail and Western Riding. WP was starting to get way past a style difference to an artificial frame and gait, I wouldn’t do it. There was some attempt at judging standard guidelines away from it mid 80s but the details elude me…obviously they were not successful.
