My kids would like to dabble in western/trail..Tack help..

Since my oldest is officially to big for the pony, my younger kids would like to start trail riding more and have asked for a western saddle for that mission. I know nada…zip…zilch about Western tack.

The saddle needs to be:
Lightweight, fits a small 9 year old and 10 year old, fit a wide (almost hoop tree) pony with a curvy back.

I’m looking at options but want advice on saddle brands that make a 13" seat with shorter fenders and quality brands. Its seems the fenders will be to long for them and I want to avoid using buddy stirrups. I would love to stay under 500.00 but have flexibility for a saddle with good resale value.

I would eventually like to get him a matching western style bridle so any brands that are better than others? Hes a med pony with a small head.

Thanks!!

I would recommend Crestridge. They have extremely light weight options and you can put English style stirrup leathers on a western saddle for adjustability in length.

they are fantastic to work with. Resale in my area is very good among older trail riders who want a good lightweight western saddle.
