My kitten keeps attacking my eyelashes!

One of the kittens that was dumped in my driveway a few months ago is obsessed with my eyes/eye lashes!!

Rooster is about 13 weeks old and super playful. But in the last few days, he’s decided that my eyes are his new toy. He will sit and stare at them for 30 minutes sometimes. This was fine (if a bit creepy…) but now he starts batting at my eyes with his paws, sometimes with his claws out! I dont know how to discipline this. I try moving him away from me or walking away from him, but he follows me or comes back. I say “NO!” in a serious voice (which he understands for other things he isnt supposed to do) but that doesnt work either.

I dont want to be mean…he just seems playful. But I also dont want to wake up to a claw in my eye.

(I would like to resolve this soon…he has been staring up at me from my lap for a good 10 min…the pawing should start soon )

Oh the JOY of kittens! They ALL love fluttering eyelashes  The fascination does (usually) subside. Eventually

Just keep putting him down/away from you. Or, get a squirt bottle.

I’ve always found blowing in their face pretty effective for stuff like this

That and a hardy NO! Keep in mind, though, some cats think blowing in their face is (play) war.At least two of mine will bop me in the face if I’m not quick enough. They keep their claws in, though, so I find it a fun. Claws come out, that game will be re-evaluated.

He will outgrow it, in the meantime, distraction with a wand toy or other toy he likes should help. I have a nose biter, although at close to three, she is giving ip; never bites hard, more of a pinch but still makes you pay attention. She also used to lick my eyelids…BLECH.

be mean - some behaviour is just not acceptable and then distract him

Rooster! Kitteh! Kit-teeehhhh!

He’s 13 weeks old and holds off from “killing” the eye-lashes for a whole 10 minutes?

Rooster. That’s a cuter-n-heck name.

What was the problem again?

mvp your post made me laugh out loud.

Hah I think the only reason he can hold off from attacking is because he likes to creep me out by staring into my eyes for long periods of time. Or maybe he’s watching for patterns in my blinking so he knows when the best time to attack is!

Rooster got his name because my SO and I were in the middle of watching True Grit when I walked out to the car and found the two pathetic, tiny kittens that had been dumped. One of Rooster’s eyes was swollen shut, so we decided that he would be Rooster, after the one eyed Rooster Cogburn in True Grit!

Silly little stinker is now attacking my feet whenever I walk. Sigh…I suppose I should enjoy the kitten period since they’ll be barn cats in a month or two!

Here’s the relevant cartoon for your situation:

Especially near the end, after the kitten-cookie part.

Hmm, I believe that any thread with the word kitten in it is required to include pictures . . .
