My MIL and her stallion

She’d probably kill for if she ever saw this :joy:

My MIL isn’t very horsey. But for some reason they decided to breed Friesians not long after me and my husband got married. She’s not very confident and bridling has especially been something she has always struggled with. She’s always worried about hurting them if it’s not done properly.

I was putting my boots on to ride the stallion and heard her talking to herself. I managed to sneak this video in and it’s never not going to make me smile.

Bless this horse for his heart of gold and never ending patience. I’m also SO proud of her for coming so far to have to confidence to do this unasked and unsupervised.

What a good boy.

I think it’s pretty awesome your MIL ventured outside her wheelhouse to do something new.

He looks like a keeper for sure and if he passes that temperament on to his offspring even better.

That’s the other “wild” stallion we have  my slightly wine drunk purchase from a TB online auction site.

It’s quite a funny story how it all came about. I showed her this lovely black PRE stallion in Spain, joking I’d love something like that. Not really understanding the difference between breeds, she saw a Friesian broodmare that was in foal and decided to go for a ‘road trip’ that weekend. Because it was black and pretty, so same thing, right?

Next thing I know a transport truck is pulling up and off comes a stallion and the broodmare in foal with my very pleased MIL. She’d brought the sire of the foal as well, who was thankfully also an absolute saint of a horse. We lost him to colic but retained the bloodlines through the colt that was born from that mare.

Now we have 2 stallions, 2 mares and 1 filly. MIL now also rides when she swore she never would. All because I showed my MIL a video of a pretty PRE
