My new favorite quote....

half halt to half halt…now there is a reminder to take to heart

great queotes…all.

Loved the Marine quote…it applies to everything. One more:

THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS.

For example, I used to focus on everythng I didn’t want to happen…didn’t want Baron to Piorette on the center line entering a second level test, didn’t want him to spook at the goofy pirate hat the schooling show judge was wearing for fun, didn’t want the local DQ elites to watch me…didn’t want to look fat in my white pants,

and all that added up to didn’t enjoy and eventually didn’t do anything…my recent journey hand in hand with breast cancer has a whole new world spread before me. I no longer focus on I don’t have a really safe horse to ride because I had to reitre my mare, who will I fox hunt, when will I close sales, don’t focus on the breasts that were taken and the hair that is gone…but instead focus on getting my four year old home in a few weeks and getting into the groove, getting my daugther acclimated to 10th grade and the bon fire birthday party next week…every day I play with my three 08 foals daily and gee…why are they so easy to handle…let me think…
daily do a little to get two more horses ready to go out to get backed and all kinds of stuff in the positive here and now.

Kind of got off track there, but the quote about proper planning and the halt halts wound me up.

The thing is, if you REALLY take care of the NOW, tomorrow IS a much more pleasant journey to encounter.

Don’t let others have more influence over you than you have over yourself.

Don’t accept the judegemt of others. It’s not their place to do so.

Enjoy the ride.

To get REALLY off the track my all time favorite quote: “drag your legs accross your face”.
Jane Fonda.

Rusty Stirrup,

I’ll bite. LOL

WHERE did that come from? Movie? I interview?

Sounds dangerously close to a baited David Letterman…oops…Johnny Carson interview.

Do tell.

A few of my favorites.

Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. (Anonymous, but I use it all the time)

Forget the )(*%$ inside rein! (Klimke)

We work the horse, not the clock. (Klimke)

It’s amazing what the horse can do, when you teach the rider to ride. (Hans Biss)

I’m sure I’ll think of others, and add them later.

Here are some of my favorites:

“If the only prayer you ever said was “thank you”, it would be enough.”

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…
It’s about learning to dance in the rain.

Off one of her exercise tapes. Not a statement you hear everyday.

Thanks Jane!

I esp. am stuck on the “Thank you” quote. LOVE it!

Thanks SO much for all you do. I’ve really gotten a lot our of your free online newsletters and radio interviews. Just saving up for your “Happy Horse Home Study Course”. Thanks for all you do. Honored to have you “join the party”.

Best wishes from Kansas.

Thanks, Kansas gal! Happy to be at the party!!

Upon a client looking at a spectacular moving mare that was excellently built but had the older style Hanoverian head with big ears and the client said “Yes BUT look at that head” the professional in question said in an exceptionally patient voice:

“Last time I heard you don’t ride the head”

from Tam Lin

I read this line and it reminded me of my relationship with my favorite horse, “You are my best knight” And this one is the essence of my great TB mare, “Her stride revealed a Goddess”.

Some of these are awesome quotes, inspiring even.

dray, I like the change of perspective you have. That is great, itis refreshing and I WILL be borrowing it, if you don’t mind.

Jane, welcome. It is great to have you here!

Thanks, Amy!

I think now that in addition to perspectinve, that one additional thing is critical:

  1. Have a DREAM
  2. BELIEVE
Dreams without belief are like having an Iphone without AT&T. One just won’t work one without the other. …and I really think you can quote me on that! LOL

I’m picking up one of the Diamond fillies I bred (Danish…actually mare) on Saturday from the reining trainer who started her for me when I found out about all the surgery stuff that I’d go through. I’m so excited. He say she’s phenominal. And he’s one tough cookie to please. He has another young one of mine that is a hunter and he doens’t like hunters. She has 60 days on her and he told me to pick her up too and not waste any more money on her. Cracks me up!
He only likes working on the quick , bold ones and seems to prefer dressage types to hunter type horses. Funny.

Thanks again!

Also voiced as “Ride Your Horse”, as in don’t just sit there.

Also:“The eye of the master maketh the horse fat” , this for absentee owners.
:sigh: I’ve been eyeing my horses too much.

My favorite:

“If it was easy, everyone would do it.”

My favourite from my dressage instructor: LET SHE FLOW!!!

Meaning: allow the horse to move, don’t block or impede her in any way, ride her forward

Oh I have a snerky one to add: On my last trail ride I was on the green morgan filly, I fullt admit my butt tells her I am nervous. But in the group she was a champ. ANother rider hwoever, told me to “Breath through my legs.”
Huh?
Obviously this is meant for us to take deep cleansing breathes and then exhale through the non existent orifii in our feet. I KNOW I was missing a critical compnentat for dressage! I’ll get right on drilling those air holes today!
