Kerrits makes a crossover kneepatch breech (not tights) that are right about at your price point. I am similarly built and find the kneepatches hit perfectly on me. Comes in several colors.
Sorry, just had to say I glanced at the title and thought it said my ovaries are dying
Mine probably are!
You ready for this? Tuff Rider breeches. they are SUPER cheap but sturdy. mine lasted me almost 6 mos. for about $40.
I wish I could wear them. They look hideous on me.
Aww, thats a shame. But let me tell yaâŠthey donât look too great on me either. I did not grow up a rider and have only ben riding for the last couple of years. Meanwhile I have been a competitive swimmer since the age of 7, so I have leg muscles like a horse ( literally! ) I think that they are great though and I donât really care what people think of how I look because they are not the ones spending my money. Hope you can find something that works for you though!
Not even 6 months is not very good!
Iâve had good luck with the Ovation Taylored, and Romfh International.
ok, 1st what does âNot even 6 months is not very goodâ mean? too much bad grammar for me to understand. I you are saying that tuff rider is not a good brand then just come out and say it. Not all of us can afford $100 breeches so I was giving her my opinion of a cheap pair of breeches in case she cant spend $100 of $200 dollars on a pair ok? So just chill it.
@KingRocker4Life I think the point was that the poster didnât consider six months to be a sufficient lifespan for a pair of breeches.
I think if she meant that then she wouldâve said that when she responded to me. Either wayâŠyou donât have to respond to my post the way that Training Cupid did. I am not dumb, I know that riders think that tuffrider is for the cheap people but they make good stuff. I just would rather put my $150 to a new helmet versus something that is gonna cover my ass.
I think she did say exactly that to you, and that you are mis-reading/over-reacting to the post. Nothing about what @Training Cupid said was rude or snotty, honestly. Your post said the breeches lasted âalmost 6 months.â I think most people reasonably expect breeches to last longer than that, so it didnât seem like a great selling point for that recommendation. Your subsequent post leaps to the conclusion that this means she thinks it is a bad brand overall, and I donât think thatâs a fair takeaway from what was said. So, no need to let it strike a nerve with you or cause you to get defensive, no one has suggested what you think they have. It is just that for most of us 6 months is a pretty short period of time for breeches.
OK, I am sorry. I guess I overreacted a bit and got defensive because I know what most people think of TuffRider. Just forget about everything that I have said along with my suggestion. OK?
Not sure about others, but I expect my breeches to last at at least 2-3 years of regular wear (1-2x/week). Totally understand some people canât afford to spend $$$ on breeches, and donât have much experience with TuffRider as a brand.
I guess in terms of pure economics it seems more prudent to spend a little more at the outset (if one is financially able) for a pair that will last longer as opposed to buying something cheaper that will need to be replaced often. In other words, you could spend $120 on one pair of SP Hadleys which are fairly nice looking and should last 2-3 years vs. spending $160 for 4 pairs of TuffRiders (that âdonât look too greatâ) for 2 years of wear, or $240 for 6 pairs for 3 years of wear.
@Training Cupid Iâm waiting for the Romfh Sarafinas to go on sale in my size at RW. I donât have any Romfh breeches yet but everyone raves about them!
One of my good friends only rides in $45 Tuffriders. She is pear shaped and they fit her perfectly. Thereâs nothing wrong with bargain breeches. The ones I need to replace were on sale for $40.
The Fits breeches were also too small by a smidge and the fabric was more like riding tights.
Next Iâll try the Romfh.
The mensâ Ovations are waaaayyyyy nicer than the womenâs, and might be worth giving a shot. Go down a size from your usual measurements as they are on the generous side, but if they work for my wonky hips they should work for yours!
I really like the Horze GP breeches, and the RJ Classics. I had to size up in the Hadleys but I like them as well.
I wanted to update to say that I finally tried the Piper breeches that are $69 and they fit perfectly.

I always hesitated to try them because I really didnât like the original piping, and because I am built nothing like friends who love them. The 34 L fit fine, unlike the Hadley sausage casings I tried before.
The colors are great.
