My Perfect Horse

Can I just take a moment to acknowledge how wonderful my mare has been. I have really increased my riding time and lessons and it is paying off. I am finally getting the whole inside leg to outside rein thing, after years. What can I say? I am spatially challenged. But having a really good horse and an even better instructor has led to some of the most correct riding of my life.

If you are sitting on the sidelines, wondering what you should do? Buy the horse. Take the lessons. Just get on and ride.

Happy for you. Positive news is good.

Who knew that my hands have been an inch or two too low all these years? I have gotten so much out of regular lessons. I am having a blast.

I couldn’t agree more. Life is short: buy the horse, ride the horse. Joy is hard to come by

Another riding her Dream horse. I havent had a lesson for I guess a year, but a new to me ute to go with the new float and I have been twice in 2 weeks. The lessons make such a big difference.

Sheilah, now, don’t you go pretending that you wrote this post. The obvious truth is that my horse wrote it, and had you submit it, to remind me how perfect he is if I would take more lessons.

He is right. Morgan horses are always right. Scheduling a winter’s worth of lessons now…

Something I’ve had to tell parents - backyard bombing around passengering find your balance type for kids is one thing … but to ‘learn to ride’ is a different animal. Has to have some athleticism can’t teach bend if horse is an ironing board and can’t bend. Same within gaits, to collect and extend. Has to be able to step up underneath themselves, raise their back, lower a headset. Everyone doesn’t need a pro ride Olympic horse but you do need something that you can learn on to ask the questions and you get the right answers.

Glad OP shopped wisely.

Busted!!! LOL, get those lessons booked. That is what I had to do. Book and prepay. I am too cheap to back out after already paying. So I just keep buying bundled lessons and I keep riding.

I love my instructor. It is a great fit. We laugh a lot, I am learning a lot and my horse is getting better and better. She always greets me at the gate and is happy to work. So I am good. She is good. Life is good.

Same here. I am sure Stars doesn’t. He took a year training me and then the instructor goes and ruins it.

I had a FANTASTIC ride on him this morning. Now they are scheduling a week of rain. So I am torn between celebrating the much needed rain and commiserating not being able to ride.
