I don’t know which is worse!
I’m late to the poop party but to me it looks like tomato horn worm poop. Not that you have a hornworm, but it probably is insect in nature.
Hornworms poop a shocking amount. Shocking.
Roaches? I think it’s insect.
Late to the party also. I agree it looks like tomato worm poop but that doesn’t make sense indoors.
I don’t think they are larvae - that also doesn’t make sense. Insects don’t just drop larvae out randomly like poop - they would be attached to something, somehow placed to allow them to grow and mature.
I’m fascinated. I’d personally probably put out some kind of roach bait just in case - but if you never see or hear them…that’s just weird.
I’m leaning toward bats. A camera would be helpful. Looking forward to an update!
I had a look at Tomato work and I’ve never seen one but I saw many in form of moth, maybe they made a nest on the roof? But again there seem to be no space among the boards to let anything live/fall from there. The same applies to bats, there are many outside during warm season but they live in the wood and they come out at night, we never saw bats roaming around the house or coming from out roof.
Yesterday I found again some poop/larvae on the floor beside the bed (at least it’s not on the bed!) and there were also a couple of dead ants. We sometimes find ants in the house but not many. Regarding roaches we’ve been living here since 2005 and never saw one inside or outside the house, I think they don’t like the place luckily
Ok maybe moth poop?
Will we never know what’s doing this? You need to win the lottery and put night vision cameras all over your house!!
Maybe but there are not that many in the house, there are outside but I’ve seen just a couple in the house, we have mosquito nets on every window
as soon as I’ll manage to put a camera I’ll tell you I swear! Whatever it is it’s very smart, we never caught it!
do you live in an area where lizards geckos etc are common?
like flea poop, it is digested blood
Yes but I know their poop usually has a white tip
This post is kind of squigging me out. Might be time to just burn the house down
I love you! Horse people you are, all of you.
Except maybe @Alterwho, who may be excused but shouldn’t be quite so sqigged out, since the mystery poop is not in their house, but in someone else’s.
I must admit than when I lived in my lovely old log house, I got pretty immune to mystery “things” showing up like this. There were many, many more organisms than just us humans living in that place!
Yes - I live in a log home. It’s impossible to entirely pest proof.
It looks like we have a winner! I showed the items to a much experienced friend who stated that is the discharge of woodworms. The ceiling wood is treated but there must be some part right over my bed place which is not. We checked for holes in the wood and couldn’t find any but probably they are in an hidden part. Always better than roaches or bats anyway
Hmm…maybe. If you don’t see holes or sawdust, I am not sure I’d be convinced.
Definitely a possibility, but I can’t see how you’d get the poop without the evidence of drilling into the wood.
There must be local pest control companies who would come out and do an inspection? They should be familiar with all the local wood-inhabiting critters and how to find them, as well as how to get rid of them.
