My partner went to buy a car and we briefly discussed trim lines. I said, “If you come back without seat heat, we’re over.”
The incredible privilege of being able to “summer” up north and “winter” in Florida and having a career that affords me the income and flexibility to do so. Owning my own farms that I run exactly how I like and knowing that my horses are cared for precisely as I wish day in and day out. Could I live without these things? Absolutely. But it sure is a luxury I don’t take for granted!!
I am at a full-service yard. Have been since about 2008. I’m about 40 minutes away from the yard, and it is really great to have someone help me tack up. I’m usually early for my ride, so I get started and my groom just pitches in and helps to speed things up. But where this is really really valuable for me is at the end of my ride, on those days where I have to be at a meeting on time. I can hop off, kiss my horse and give him a carrot, and throw the reins at my saintly groom so I can jump into a shower.
@atr, I have a problem with the BOT and other Far Infra-red therapies.
At home and being driven around in a car–I do not want to live without this gear since it helps my pain so very, very much.
HOWEVER, every single time I wear even one piece while I ride a horse, well the horses are not totally happy with me. This happened even when all I was wearing was a BOT ankle brace. The horses act fine, but for the subtleties of contact–well the horses won’t go there. The horses will not reach for the bit with their tongues and I end up not having that wonderful conversation between the horse’s tongue and my fingers. The tiny bit of extra heat messes up my nerve conduction big time.
So now I make sure that I take all the therapeutic stuff off before I ride. I might hurt but the happier horse relaxes, moves better, and my body warms up better and I don’t hurt as bad.
Amen!
