Can you use a “go by” name that is used professionally (outside of the horse world) or do you have to use your name on your birth certificate.

For USEF I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter. Years ago I changed mine right after I got married, before I had even legally changed it, and they didn’t ask for any sort of paperwork. I just went into my profile online, changed my name, hit save and it was done. It’s been a while so maybe they care more now but at the time they definitely did not.
Thanks! I did hear back from USEF and you are correct. Since they aren’t a “legal entity”, you can use your go-by name.
