Nasty lease dispute - WWYD?

I do not think most people here thought that a person can not file suit. I actually think it has been said before that anyone can file a suit.

This thread is a really good exercise for all lessors to review. It sounds petty and annoying for those that are used to a handshake, but always get payment, signed paperwork and proof of insurance before the horse leaves your property.

I believe there are a lot of trainers who would follow this path. I believe that is why a lot of trainers are broke.

Improved this horse? By my reading they loaded it with banamine and used it until it was pretty broken. Improved is a stretch. It had years of showing according to the OP. It didn’t need to be used hard by these leasees to improve it.

Agreed.

Their own vet said to inject it. They got a reduced price by agreeing to DO those injections. They elected not to initially and rode/showed it anyway. In what world was that doing a favor to OP?

I would be way way madder if I was the OP. These people used her nice horse like it was trash they could throw away and then demanded she take the financial hit because they couldn’t keep grinding her nice horse for another month and a half.

Exactly, and this is exactly the fear of every owner everywhere! Sending a sound horse (as far as owner was concerned when horse left, anyway) out on lease or trial and getting a broken one back. You really have no control over what people do with your horse in their care, and I don’t understand why people think they can use (and abuse) someone else’s horse for free?

The one thing I’ll fault her for was not being more involved in the PPE (or getting her own vet to check out the horse pre lease. Otherwise OP got taken and I’d be pretty upset if I was her!!!
