ugh. Now our season is officially shot.
As well as the Summer Dressage show they put on and all the Breed show stuff. 2020 is very likely to be the summer without shows for New England.
Suppose I should shoot USDF another email about refunding our PM membership bucks?? Since you know, useless now?
Hey the casinos are opening June 1, so there is hope for the CT shows. As long as MA isn’t requiring quarantine on return
I will be interested to see if we have a Regional Championship, and if so, where/how. To my knowledge, my two closest overnight shows (Centerline Events at HITS and Windy Hollow Hunt at the Sussex County Fairgrounds) have not yet canceled the season.
Im guessing the New York crowd will go to NJ for regionals if it is there. The Centerline show will have the same issues as NEDA Fall
That’s probably right, although the NEDA regionals is one of the largest. There will have to be some major limits to combine it into another show/championship.
I hope the CT series runs - R Folly and Sperry View - as well as the Kirby Hill shows.
and Mystic - thats our favorite
We’ve never gone, but they will get our whole barn if they run this year.
The 2020 version of Dressage at Devon was officially cancelled.
Steve and Deb just posted that they intend to run the CLE shows at HITS this year, including a championship. Details are still in the works.
Just came in from the barn and saw that! Yay!. Also, Mystic is a gem. Good footing, good stabling, we stay at foxwoods and have a blast
The casinos are opening because they are independent of the state as Indian land. A bit concerning for those of us in the area as they will draw people from different areas (although they claim to only be open to CT and RI residents to start). Right now CT still wants anyone coming into the state to quarantine for 14 days. A whole lot depends upon how things go in the next month or so.
The word being handed down is that Region 8 champs can actually still happen if another venue is willing to host/organize.
That being said, just because businesses are opening does not mean that it is safe to be traveling around, eating out, spending hours in barns with strange people from all over the new england and forcing judges to be in close proximity to multiple volunteers over a long weekend. So I’ll do my part and NOT participate in any unnecessary activities this year so as to not put my family and the families of others at risk.
Agree 100%
Thank you Hawks Nest and Pezanos. It is reassuring to know that there are still people who will make some personal sacrifices for the greater community good.
From the news in our tourist driven area, the out-of-towners came in droves; the very reason DH and I did NOT venture out. On opening day (Friday) of one of the casinos in our area, the lives were reported to be out the door. Two other casinos will open this week. Are these patrons not already playing enough roulette with the pandemic???
And, unfortunately the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (H/J) in our area is still on and has actually added 2 weeks. I don’t compete there, but surely will not come to spectate if that is an option. Such disregard for the health and safety of our small rural communities.
